This charming walk-up ice cream spot hums with a relaxed, nostalgic energy where the simple joy of a scoop shared outdoors takes center stage. With its retro vibes and cozy benches just outside, it invites locals and visitors alike to slow down, linger, and savor the moment no matter the season.

The pace here is unhurried but lively—as a steady flow of eager visitors lines up to choose from a thoughtfully curated spread of flavors that feel both familiar and playfully inventive. From classic soft vanilla cones to whimsically crafted creations like cotton candy on a birthday cake cone, there's a sense that each serving reflects care and a bit of magic in every bite. The scent of freshly made waffle cones mingles with the hum of friendly exchanges between staff and guests, adding a warm human touch to the experience.

What makes Magic Fountain more than just an ice cream shop is its feeling of a genuine neighborhood spot where tradition meets creativity. You’ll find comfort in timeless flavors like Butter Pecan and Maple Walnut alongside surprises like pistachio or a birthday cake sundae crowned with Nutella and brownie bits. It’s a place where the nostalgia of old-school ice cream counters quietly coexists with thoughtful, modern takes on indulgence.

Even without indoor seating, the outdoor benches create a kind of communal moment—neighbors, friends, and families unwinding together under the open sky, sharing stories and laughs over well-crafted treats. It's a reminder that sometimes, the simple things—the scoop, the cone, the company—are enough to carve out a little magic in the everyday.

OMG, if you're in Summit and haven't hit up Magic Fountain yet, what are you even doing with your life?! This place is pure summer magic in a cone! I swung by on a scorching afternoon, and even though it’s a walk-up window spot with no indoor seating, the retro vibes and outdoor benches make it the perfect chill spot. The smell of fresh waffle cones hits you right away, and the staff? Super friendly, like they actually love their job. I went for the chocolate chip cookie dough sundae, loaded with hot fudge and whipped cream—decadent but not cloyingly sweet, just pure perfection. The strawberry scoop was so fresh, it tasted like it came straight from a farm. And don’t sleep on the soft serve twists—legit some of the best I’ve ever had. Prices are solid (under $10 for a stacked treat), and they’ve got dairy-free options for my lactose-intolerant friend who tagged along. Pro tip: Hit up the toppings bar—it’s a choose-your-own-adventure dream! Left feeling like a kid again, no regrets. Whether you’re local or just passing through, Magic Fountain is a must. Summit’s hidden gem deserves all the hype! #IceCreamHeaven #SummitEats #TreatYourself

One of the best ice cream spots in New Jersey. What I love most is that you really taste the authentic flavors in every scoop. Definitely try the Peanut Butter Cup and Butter Pecan—they’re incredible!

Great spot in Summit, been here forever. Always a line but it moves pretty fast and they have a huge selection of items. Good to have the wait to decide! Especially like the banana ice cream with Nutella - sugar bomb but super tasty!

If you miss the old school ice cream store, you have to head over to Magic Fountain! They have the favorites like cookie ice cream sandwiches, ice cream cakes but also slushees, cool cones options and so much more. It’s cash only in you’re ordering in person . Fast service too

I wish I could gate keep this place but because it is SO good I want everyone to know!! It’s already widely popular. Usually you go to an ice cream place and just get toppings on top but MF clearly puts them in while doing soft serve so it’s equally spread. It’s the best! Their soft serve is delicious. I really loved the Smores flavor ice cream as well. I also recommend the brownie sundae! I don’t normally order warm/hot things that come in plastic but it’s just so delicious. You get a lot for your money here and it’s homemade. Totally worth the wait because lines get long here! Even in the rain there’s lines.

There’s usually a line when the weather is nice but it’s worth the wait! There are so many options of flavors, toppings and types of sundaes. And you can’t go wrong with any of them
